(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - A court in Kazan, capital of Russia's republic of Tatarstan, on Saturday ordered two months' further detention for four of the men arrested in connection with a recent assault on two top Muslim clerics in which Tatarstan Mufti Ildus Faizov was injured and his deputy Valiulla Yakupov was killed.
The four detainees are Marat Kudakayev, who was fired two years ago as head of the department for liaison with security services of the Tatar Muslim Spiritual Administration, Airat Shakirov, a public figure resident in the republic's Vysokogorsky district, Abdunazim Ataboyev, a national of Uzbekistan, and businessman Murat Galeyev, administrator of a local Muslim community.
A fifth detainee was released, Eduard Abdullin, senior aide to the head of the Russian Investigative Committee's Tatar branch, told Interfax. Abdullin declined to name him, just saying he was aged 31 and resident in the republic's Laishevo district. According to earlier reports, his name is Azat Gainutdinov.
